Jewish Community Alliance

The Jewish Community Alliance (JCA) is a nonprofit organization serving the Jewish community of Southern Maine by providing educational and social programming and fundraising. Our mission is to enhance and promote Jewish life and continuity locally, in Israel and throughout the world, and to generate financial resources to develop, provide and support diverse programs, education and services in order to accomplish these goals. As a combined Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family Services program, the JCA is here to be a resource for the entire Southern Maine community. Thanks to the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of our network, the JCA impacts our community in many ways. Working with an array of organizations and local congregations, we function as the hub of Jewish programming in Southern Maine.
In collaboration with HIAS, the JCA works around the world to protect refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands because of who they are, including ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities. For more than 130 years, HIAS has been helping refugees rebuild their lives in safety and dignity. Since January of 2022, the JCA has resettled 102 clients from 7 nations, and have plans to assist 115+ more in 2023! We could not do this work without volunteers and supporters, and we are so thankful for everyone who stepped up to help in the past year. As a HIAS affiliate network partner, the JCA is committed to bringing approximately 115 refugees over the next year, helping them to find housing and work, and connecting them with services here in Maine over their first three months here.
